Winter Activities and Events in Fayetteville, NC
1) Downtown Fayetteville There are hundreds of shops, restaurants, and venues to explore in the Cool Spring Downtown District. Throw on a jacket and sunglasses and stroll through this vibrant city center with so much to do and see. The Fascinate-U Children's Museum is a great place to spend a morning or afternoon with the family, or bring them to Greg's Pottery to create their own clay masterpieces. Movie buffs will love the Cameo Art House Theatre, where you can watch art, independent, foreign and classic films in velvet covered, cast iron chairs, and the Gilbert Theater stages contemporary and classical theatrical productions throughout the year (Othello is coming in March!). For an after work beer (or anytime, really), stop by Southern Pines Brewing Co., the newest taproom set to open in Downtown Fayetteville this year.2) Military Museums and Memorials Fayetteville is home to the world's largest military base and offers many ways to learn about our country's military history and accomplishments. The U.S. Army Airborne & Special Operations Museum (ASOM) highlights over 80 years of history — from World War II to the Global War on Terrorism — through permanent exhibits, school tours, virtual tours, and continuing education. Just across the street in Veterans Park, you'll find statues dedicated to paratroopers and K-9 soldiers.
