4 Cool Things to Do This Spring in Wilmington, NC

Based on location and weather alone, Wilmington, NC already ranks pretty high on the "cool places to live" list. With so many reasons to move to Wilmington — like beaches, unique culture, low cost of living, and more — it’s easy to live here and love it all year long. But once spring arrives and the temperatures warm up to the 70s consistently, it brings a whole new energy to this Coastal Carolina city. Festivals, markets, and water events happen just about every weekend in the spring, and locals and visitors alike are out and about to soak up the sunshine and good vibes. Aside from the beautiful beaches and plenty of outdoor restaurants that you’ll find throughout the city, here are four cool things to do this spring in Wilmington, NC.   1) Attend a Festival    Spring is festival season in North Carolina, and Wilmington is no exception! There are many great festivals here, both large and small. A few of our favorites include the North Carolina Azalea Festival in April, the Kure Beach Street Festival on April 30, and the Boogie in the Park Concert Series which kicks off in May. Be sure to wear your sunscreen!   2) Stroll the Riverwalk   The Riverwalk in Downtown Wilmington may be just 1.75 miles long, but there is so much to see and do along this premier attraction! Restaurants and shops dot the length of this classic waterfront walkway, and it's an ideal place to see a myriad of views of the Cape Fear River. It's also the perfect way to access some of Wilmington's most popular attractions, like the Saturday morning market and the USS NORTH CAROLINA Battleship.    3) Shop Farmers' Markets   North Carolina is known for its farm-to-table restaurants, and in Wilmington, the farmers bring their produce directly to you! There are several farmers' markets throughout the area that kick off in April and pop up weekly until the fall. The Riverfront Farmers' Market features farmers, producers, artists, and crafters on Saturday mornings in an open-air, pedestrian walk-through market along Dock Street in historic downtown. The Wilmington Farmers Market at Tidal Creek also sets up on Saturdays. This producer-only market sells only what they produce, including local fruits and veggies, microgreens, honey, plants, herbs, flowers, eggs, farm-raised meats, and shellfish. The Poplar Grove Farmers' Market sets up every Wednesday at historic Poplar Grove Mansion and sells a variety of local artisan products and fresh produce.    4) Watch (or Participate In!) the Carolina Cup   Dust off your paddle boards (or your beach chairs) because it's time for the Carolina Cup! This week-long event in Wilmington features paddle board clinics, demos, and five exciting races. Participate in any event you'd like, or just watch the action from the shoreline and enjoy live music, an expo, food, and drinks. The event runs April 27-May 1, 2022 in various locations.    There are so many great things to do in Wilmington, NC this spring and all year-round, and when you live here, you can enjoy them whenever you want!
