Stretching across the most northeastern section of Florida from inland to the ocean, Nassau County is home to beautiful natural habitats, interesting roadside attractions, popular festivals and events, and some of the best beaches in the state. Whether you visit or live in Nassau County, there's always something unique to do and see. Here are a few of our favorites!

6 Things To Do In Nassau County, FL

  1) Fort Clinch State Park   At Fort Clinch State Park on Amelia Island, you can experience Florida's storied military history and beautiful nature preserves all on the same visit. Tour the grounds of the Civil War-era fort with its lines of imposing cannons, then enjoy miles of hiking and biking trails through the 1400-acre park, or shark-tooth hunting on its sandy shores.   2) Catty Shack Ranch Wildlife Sanctuary    One of the top attractions in the Jacksonville area, Catty Shack Ranch Wildlife Sanctuary provides a safe place and forever home to endangered big cats. Visitors can tour the facility to observe and learn about tigers, lions, pumas, leopards, and lynx. The Catty Shack even has a few "honorary cats" of foxes and coatimundis!   3) Antiquing   Florida is an antiquer's paradise, and the areas around Amelia Island don't disappoint! There are plenty of small shops where you can find gems of all kinds, including furniture, clothing, home decor, books and records, and more.   4) Isle of Eight Flags Shrimp Festival   This annual spring festival celebrates both the wonderful southern delicacy of shrimp and Amelia Island's rich history of rule under eight different flats since 1562. Come enjoy an antiques show, whimsically decorated shrimp boats, contests of all kinds, arts & crafts, and of course... shrimp cooked a million ways!   A Historic Red Brick Building in the Beaux Arts Style.   5) The Palace Saloon   Founded in 1903 to serve the captains of ships from around the globe and local well-to-do alike, The Palace Saloon is Florida's oldest continuously operating bar. It still has the same inlaid mosaic floors, embossed tin ceilings, and 40-ft gas-lit bar that made it among the most elegant drinking establishments of the day.   6) Big Talbot & Little Talbot Island State Parks   The nature preserve within Big Talbot State Park is one of Florida’s premier destinations for nature study, bird-watching, and photography. There are multiple areas to hike, bike, boat, fish, and picnic. Little Talbot Island State Park is one of the only undeveloped barrier islands remaining in Northeast Florida. Here you'll find plenty of outdoor activities along with ancient dunes and pristine beaches to explore.   If you love visiting Nassau County in Florida, chances are you'll love living here, too.
