Best DC Suburbs to Enjoy Outdoor Recreation

It's springtime in the suburbs of Washington, DC, which means it's time to get outside and enjoy the gorgeous weather! The bluebells, tulips, daffodils, and magnolias are all blooming from the warmer temperatures and sunshine, so you might as well, too. Whether you live in Leesburg, Herndon, Manassas, or Stafford, there are so many ways to enjoy the great outdoors of Northern Virginia in your own backyard!

Leesburg   Leesburg's nine public parks offer a host of amenities, from vast green spaces for gathering to fishing ponds, playgrounds, skate parks, walking trails, sport fields, picnic benches, and more. Ida Lee Park is a favorite for swimming, playing tennis, soccer, or lacrosse, and attending outdoor events.

Herndon   Herndon's 11 neighborhood parks bring an element of nature within reach of every home. There are also two walking trails, and Sugarland Run Trail is a popular 8.8-mike forested trek for hikers, walkers, and joggers.   image1 2

The Occoquan River offers water sports like paddling and kayaking, while the parks and trails are perfect for hiking, biking, horseback riding, skating, and more. Prince William County is also home to 12 championship golf courses that players of all skill levels can enjoy.

Stafford   Hiking, biking, climbing, boating... whatever "ing" you're looking for in outdoor recreation, Stafford's got it! Crow's Nest Natural Area Preserve, Government Island, and Widewater State Park offer plenty of opportunities for residents to get outside, explore nature, and enjoy themselves.
