That’s why it’s one of the states Dream Finders has chosen to build our homes and communities. The cherry on top is that its cities have been ranked as some of the best housing markets in the US, including Raleigh and Cary as well as some in the Triad.

Where Are The Best Places To Live In NC?

After gathering data about 300 cities and categorizing them by size, a WalletHub study determined that Raleigh and Cary were among the top 15 best places to buy a home. They compared the cities using 17 real estate and economic growth indicators such as housing affordability, job growth, and home price appreciation. Of course, several other factors make Raleigh and Cary two of the best places to live in NC.

Buying a home in north carolina

1. Raleigh

Out of the 300 cities, Raleigh ranked 14th overall and 4th compared to other large cities. This city is consistently ranked high as a top place to live for many reasons. Aside from the diverse population, outdoor recreation, top-notch schools, and entertainment, it’s a hub for growth in every way.

Raleigh real estate continues to grow with the population. Homes are in high demand helping the prices and value of homes increase. You can be sure that purchasing a home here will yield a high return on investment (the value of homes in the Raleigh area has appreciated by 72.85% over the last 10 years). Need a job or want to start a business? Raleigh is known for being one of the fastest-growing metropolitan areas in the country with a hot job market. It’s home to many quality jobs and start-ups in a wide range of industries. The job market has increased by more than 3% in the last year and shows no signs of slowing. With the combination of job and housing security, along with the high quality of life, it’s easy to see why it ranks so high.

2. Cary

The Cary, NC real estate market ranked 5th overall and 3rd against other mid-sized cities in WalletHub’s study. It scored especially high in affordability and economic environment at 13 out of 300. Like Raleigh, it’s a great place to explore job opportunities, especially in the tech industry. Software companies like Epic Games, Arista Networks, and IntelliScanner Corporation are seeing significant growth. Beyond its high-ranking real estate market and job growth, Cary should be high on your list of places to move to for many reasons.

From a low crime rate to outdoor recreation and quality education, Cary, NC residents have much to boast about their town. Getting around is easy with its excellent transportation network and access to major highways. Plus, the Raleigh-Durham International Airport is only 12 miles away. Bicycling is also a popular form of transportation that’s supported by the many safe biking paths. Young students and adults alike are well educated by the high-ranking Wake County Public School System and quality universities nearby. There are public parks, miles of trails, museums, and annual events to enjoy, too.

3. Triad

The Triad was represented in the study with cities like Winston-Salem (#52), Greensboro (#61), and High Point (#56) ranking in the top 100 amongst their respective city sizes. The NC Triad has positive attributes like affordability, economic growth, and offering a high quality of life. These cities in The Triad offer a confluence of people with different perspectives, experiences, ideas, cultures, and more. You can explore the best of both southern small-town charm and modern amenities with outdoor recreation, local farmer’s markets and businesses, historic downtowns, vibrant nightlife, and more. It has something for everyone!
